Walker Books) Bonnie’s visit to the Hornville with Gramps is full of curiosities and lemon sherbets. During the summer holidays, Bonnie Montgomery and her grampa visit the local museum, the Hornville Museum of Natural History and Suchlike. This is such a feel good and book full of wits and craziness that I am already eager to get my hands on its next series.

Being dyslexic the books need to be accessible and fun, this is certainly a very fun read and has illustrations as well! Granda Banks, of course, makes a wonderful third part of this duo, ready to help out or cover for Bonnie or give her the sage advice she needs. Bonnie Montgomery is finally getting a holiday from cracking cases as her alter-ego, Montgomery Bonbon, when something terribly fishy happens the moment she and Grampa Banks arrive on Odde Island – and it's not just the smell of the harbour. But can she solve this case alone, or will she need double the detectives to solve double the murder?

Since Dana realised Bonnie’s alter ego, Bonnie has been avoiding her, but evidently none too subtly. A brilliantly funny young murder mystery from a rising stand-up comedian, podcaster and filmmaker – and exciting new tal. This is a particularly delightful series, in that it hams up the humour perfectly, and is filled with oddball characters. There's been a mysterious death at the lighthouse, and what everyone assumed was an accident is setting Bonbon's moustache all a-quiver: something is Highly Suspicious.

When a museum employee is found murdered and the valuable Widdlington Eagle stolen, Bonbon is on the case and interviews a cast of eccentric staff and suspects. Children will love the accompanying black-and-white illustrations by Claire Powell and they fit perfectly with the short chapters, each one leaving you wanting more. Can Bonnie, I mean Monsieur Bonbon and Grampa Banks work out what happened and find the guilty party? Sometimes detective stories for children may come across as being a bit bland, but this one is definitely a fun-filled read.

Murder at the Museum is a children’s humorous middle-grade story that is filled to the brim with exciting moments. The illustrations throughout the book almost act as a case file style support for the reader with maps, snapshots of suspects and clues drawn in. The illustrations that weave throughout the pages of the book are fantastic and just add to the story.Beckett-King's other creative stuff but judging by the reaction of my grand-children ( the age group for which it is intended ) it is a very successful piece of writing. Montgomery Bonbon begins to take statements from the suspects and gather evidence before following a few clues that have been left behind to try and solve the mystery. Bonnie gets to do it all, and really well - assisting the bumbling police with the case of a missing museum piece and the murder of its guard. Not that anyone (other than Grampa Banks) has heard of her… But they might have heard of the great Montgomery Bonbon, the well-dressed gentleman detective who (apart from the hat and moustache) looks suspiciously like a 10-year-old girl. And it’s also a heart-warming example of a special relationship between a young girl and her Grampa.

I love how Bonbon mixes his foreign language words together in the same sentence, further mystifying adults as to where he may be from, "Mein ami" being my favorite. Montgomery Bonbon owes much of his persona to Monsieur Hercule Poirot, and it makes me laugh, thinking that someday, some kid (or grown-up! Together they'll interview some dodgy witnesses, scour the scene for clues and - above all - hope no one notices that Bonnie and Montgomery are never in the same room at the same time. Bookwagon is delighted to welcome a new, yet standalone, uproarious detective adventure in Montgomery Bonbon: Death at the Lighthouse. It seems that no notebook will be left unfilled, no lemon sherbet left unsucked, for this is a case for Montgomery Bonbon!
